The Little Mermaid Jr
January 22 - March 21, 2021
*Hybrid Musical*

InnOVATION will produce The Little Mermaid Jr as a mixed media musical.  The musical will feature a filmed performance, shown on a big screen as a ticketed event.  In the hybrid approach, some rehearsals will take place online and some will take place in person.  All students must participate in in-person filming.  Students will wear a face mask and distance at all times while in the building, but we will film in larger groups with masks on ensemble members but not on leads (exception: puppet characters can stay in masks at all times unless it impedes clarity of text.)  We will pre-record ensemble vocals and ensure sufficient distancing (10 feet from cast, backs to cast, outdoors or in large, high-ceiling auditorium) when individual leads remove their masks for filming.

Due to COVID restrictions, we will limit the number of students who can participate.

Intermediate students have two production participation options:

1.  Intermediate "with production" as a small group featured in two numbers in the show.

2.  Advanced cast which means they will receive a supporting, featured, or lead role in addition to participating in ensemble with their opposite cast.  This is a much heavier rehearsal schedule.

Intermediate (Small Group Features) Rehearsal Schedule:
Thursdays from 5:30-7:30pm February-March 11, 2021

Advanced Cast Auditions:
Friday, January 22nd from 5:30pm-8:30pm and Saturday January 23rd from 1:30pm-4:30pm with Callbacks 4:30-6:30pm.

Advanced Cast Rehearsal Schedule:
Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:30-8:30pm and Saturdays from 1-6pm beginning on January 26th (or Jan 29th)

Rehearsals will be online initially, moving to in-person with masks in February if it is deemed safe and in compliance with our governor’s regulations.

Tech Week and Performances:
Filming the week of March 8-12 from 5-10pm with additional filming on March 13 from 9am-5pm and March 14 from 1-6pm.  Please hold March 15-17 as additional filming days if needed. Intermediate (small group) students will be called for specific, limited times.  Advanced cast members should plan to be called for the entirety of filming dates and times.

Film to be released/red carpet opening TBD in April.  Performance tickets will range in price from $15-$20.

• No prior training required.
• Students will need black jazz shoes for in-person classes and performances.
